Real-time bus and train data

It would be great to see Transperth provide real-time data for bus, train and ferry services in GTFS-realtime or SIRI format.

This information is currently available within their app and to some extent on their web site.

Similar datasets have been available in all other Australian states through Open Data programs for over a decade now.

The use case would be for third party transport apps and platforms like Google Maps and Apple Maps to incorporate accurate arrival forecasts, live vehicle tracking and disruption messaging into their products. This would improve public transport customer satisfaction and access for customers with accessibility needs.

I too am interested to hear about this. Are there any plans for the WA government to provide the feed via an open data platform?

Agreed, this would be a massive advantage for WA. It’s basically free for WA to implement as the tracking and data is already there for them to share and would increase public transport usage/confidence massively. Hopefully TransPerth allows this and implements this soon
